Plant Forward

Plant Forward logo
Trends and consumer insights show plant based menus and plant forward diets on the rise sparking culinary creativity to make plants the star of the show on a consumer’s plate. A plant forward diet emphasizes the importance of incorporating more plant based foods in your diet such as vegetables, fruits, wholegrains, pulses (beans and lentils), nuts and seeds. Plant based foods are rich in fiber, vitamins, minerals, proteins and other phytonutrients which are important to good health. Not only are plant forward diets good for you, but they are also good for the Earth.  Environmental benefits of eating a plant forward diet typically include a smaller demand on natural resources to produce plants and a lower overall carbon footprint when compared to animal production.  At La Salle, you’ll find our signature Plant Forward menu items at both residential dining halls, including an entire station dedicated solely to plant based protein alternatives.

What About Allergies

Vegetables
Our Serv Safe certified management team is available for you to discuss any allergen concerns and can provide a good starting point for information.  We encourage all students with any kind of allergen or dietary restriction to self-identify and request to meet with a member of our management team so that we can better understand your needs, communicate our options and better support your dining experience. We have informational resources and customized menus to address your specific dietary need. We are available to answer questions or set up a meeting at dining@lasalle.edu.

At Blue & Gold Commons, we have a station dedicated solely to those with allergen concerns, called our “Allergen Friendly Zone”.   Here you will find a complete meal consisting of an entree, starch and vegetable that is always free of wheat, egg, dairy, peanuts, tree nuts and shellfish.   To ensure we are able to safely execute our allergen friendly commitment we have separate purple foodservice equipment and serving utensils specifically for the Allergen Friendly Zone production & serving to mitigate any cross contamination concerns.
Additionally, we also have a wide variety of items that can meet your dietary needs.  In addition to daily menu specials, we offer Gluten Friendly options in our main dining locations including individually wrapped items such as bagels, muffins, bread, rolls, brownies and cookies.
